MUNA Marie Muna Gosser, the artist known as Muna, has been working with the oil on canvas medium for over 20 years. She prefers this medium for its inherent beauty and time-proven permanence. She admits that it is more difficult and less forgiving than some other media, but insists on working with good materials to assure that archival quality of all good artwork. Art should be eternal. Muna Muna paints what she feels. Every work is an original, never a copy. Her style is unrestrained and is a reflection of her character, open and expressive, warm and honest. Her painting range includes landscapes, still life, character studies and impressionistic works, depending on the mood and inspiration at any given time. Because one's mind is constantly changing, she knows only too well why an artist never considers a work "finished" - there is always a new point of view, a new perspective. Muna has taken a long and winding path to reach this stage of her life. Born in Iraq, she emigrated to Israel as a child and was raised on a kibbutz (a commune) where her artistic talents first received recognition. She worked in the Tel Aviv theater arts for a living and painted for pleasure. At various times, she has lived, studied and painted in Rome and Paris. She emigrated to the U.S. because Israel just wasn't big enough for her ambitious nature. It was only after she moved to Florida with her husband Leo that she seriously considered art as a career, although she had long dreamed of running her own gallery. That dream is now a reality.
