Don Epstein SCULPTURES TO 'DYE' FOR The sculptures are each individual hand crafted around an armature that is a predetermined shape of the sculptured animal. Over the armature is applied an initial coat of composite mache' resin. After thoroughly curing, the artist applies and hand sculptures the final figure. This is then left to cure for undisclosed time. The final figure is painted using various trade techniques and then glazed. Each piece is signed by the artist ("DYE"). Each of the series is numbered with the number of the piece and total number that will be made using that particular armature pattern. In addition each sculpture carries the seal of the artist with the number of the piece and the artist crest imbedded within the seal which is permanently affixed to the sculpture from its inception.
