Christine A Michigan native, Christine grew up in rural Michigan where she developed a love of nature at an early age. Her father taught her to observe the nesting birds, listening to their individual melodic warbling. Each tree, plant and flower name became familiar to her as a result of his influence. Her mother, a lifelong artist, was also a great inspiration. Christine became known as the “class artist” and at age 11 she placed in an international poster contest. Christine had a strong interest in natural textiles. She attended Michigan State University, majoring in clothing and textiles, where she also studied art and design. For many years she was an active member of the Michigan Weavers Guild, creating numerous hand-dyed and hand-woven pieces. Christine also became a silk painter and began designing one-of-a-kind clothing. She displayed her wearable art in various shows including Wayne State University, the Ann Arbor Art Association in Ann Arbor Michigan, and in various boutiques from Detroit to New York. This eventually led to the opening of her own boutique in Howell, Michigan where she sold her art pieces along with other artist’s work. After ten successful years in business, it was time to move on and explore art again. Watercolor became her media of choice. The luminosity and color blending reminded her of the wonders of nature that she had observed so many years before as a child. Currently a Florida resident, Christine’s art has appeared on the covers of Sunshine Artist, Southwest Florida Women’s Digest and Natural Awakenings magazines. Christine was a finalist in Watercolor Magazine’s 2006 annual competition and North Light Books 2006 annual competition. She has been featured in Wildlife Art magazine, The Artist Magazine and Bonita Living magazine. Her work is in both private and corporate collections around the world including, Bear’s Paw Country Club, Naples, Florida, Shadow Wood Preserve Country Club, Fort Myers, Florida, and the Monarch Beach Hotel, Santa Monica, California. Christine, a national award winning artist, shows her work at Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, Naples and at fine art shows. She is a member of the American Watercolor Society, Florida Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society and Signature member of the National Watercolor Society. Christine's painting, "Pelican Flower", was selected to be one of 30 paintings to go on tour with the 85th annual National Watercolor Society Travel show, visiting galleries and museums across the country.
