The oils are too new to varnish, but after a year they may be
varnished using damar varnish (only by a professional). They are so heavily
painted, they may never need varnish, at least not for a few years. Linseed and
turpentine dry very slowly and actually improve, becoming more luminous with
age (molecular structure changes)." |
| Care and Feeding Tips from Cecil... "I frame the big plexiglass
acrylic mixed media paintings using archival foam core backs so they will last
a century - at least. Nothing can get to the paint. The only hindrance is that
they will scratch as they are plexiglass. I use plexiglass protective cleaner,
buffer, protective Novus 1 and 2 - which is fine scratch remover - to protect
them (never windex!). Novus is an antifog, antistatic, dust repellant.
Otherwise just a light dusting once in a while. |
